1922
AMEY'S TAXI IS BORN
Bill Amey founded Amey's Taxi (during which time he also owned a grocery on the corner of Bagot & Earl street).
1940
CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP
Steve, Frank, and Arme inherit Amey's Taxi.
1945
AMEY'S IS SOLD
Steve sold Amey's Taxi to Francis and Glenn Greenwood who acquired over the next several years Premier Taxi, Checker Taxi, Yellow, Royal, and Diamond Taxi.
1952
NEW PARTNERS
Francis and Glenn Greenwood brought in 2 brothers, Joseph and Reginal Greenwood as equal partners.
1997
SOLD AGAIN
Mark Greenwood (Francis' son) bought Amey's Taxi from Greenwood Brothers Ltd and took the baton to continue the Greenwood legacy until this present date.
1998
CAR SEATS AVAILABLE
Amey's Taxi is the first to offer car seat availability in its fleet.
1999
SERVICE GARAGE OPENED
Mark opened a service garage for the fleet to ensure a better quality control of the fleet at head office.
2006
BULLFROG POWER
Amey’s Office switched to Bullfrog power which only gets hydro from renewable energy sources such as windpower (It costs more for Amey’s to buy hydro through Bullfrog as compared to local PUC).
2007
GOING GREEN
Put on first Toyota Prius Hybrid. Each of these vehicles saves over 15 tons of CO2 emmissions per year over a regular taxi.
2008
RECYCLING AND GREEN FLEET EXPANSION
Office recycling program started with over 60% of head office waste now being recycled rather than going to landfills.
Hybrid Vehicles represent just over 7% of its fleet preventing over 100 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
Winner of the Peoples Choice Award and voted best Taxi service in Kingston.
2009
SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS AND GREEN FLEET EXPANSION
Hybrid Vehicles represent 15% of the taxi fleet preventing over 180 tons of CO2 emissions per year from being released in the environment.
Installation of safety cameras in many vehicles.
Winner of the Peoples Choice Award and voted best Taxi service in Kingston.

MOBILE APP RELEASE AND NEW DISPATCH SYSTEM
40% of the fleet are Hybrid vehicles.
Installed mobile knowledge state of the art computer dispatch system with tablets in all vehicles. 50-channel military grade gps, google mapping in all vehicles.
Installed mobile app technology; "Amey's Taxi App" through Taxi Hail

2015
GREEN FLEET EXPANSION
60% of our fleet are now hybrid vehicles saving almost 1200 tons of CO2, from polluting our environment per year.
2016
WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VANS AND APP IMPROVEMENTS
Wheelchair Accessible
Added the payment portion, Card on File to our taxihail app. Customers can now pay with a defaulted credit card for rides and have a receipt emailed to them.
Added "Rate my Ride". Customers can now rate their ride out of 5 stars! This includes knowledge, safety and politeness of your driver.
2017
RENOVATIONS AND MORE ACCESSIBLE VEHICLES
Added two more Wheelchair Accessible vans to our fleet.
Renovated our building. Added more offices, a staff lunch room, larger dispatch office and IT room.
2018
LOST AND FOUND, DESKTOP APP RELEASE, AND GOING PAPERLESS
Launched our Lost and Found Program-ChargerBack. Customers can now log their lost items from home. When an item is brought into our office, it is entered and matched with the customers information. Automatically the customer is emailed to let them know a match has been made and their item has been found.
Launched our desktop app from our web page. Don't have a smart phone? No worries! You can call a cab from a desktop or laptop. Just create an account and log in your pick up details and go!
Introduced EFT.
Went paperless in our front office.
2019
COMPLIMENT LOGS & MORE VEHICLES
Began transcribing compliments - received by calls and emails - which are now available here in pdf format.
Added more vehicles to our fleet.
